The room I booked was kept very clean and available with a balcony offering sweeping views of the fjord. The breakfast was delicious with a variety of options to choose from, including sunnyside-up eggs and hot fish. The personnel were very helpful and accommodating during my stay.

Beautiful historical hotel, had absolutely amazing stay.
I loved the room with balcony looking across balestrand. The breakfasts were large with extras-like eggs or bacon, hot fish, couldn’t ask for anything better;)))

We stayed in a newly remodelled room with a beautiful view of the fjord. The personnel was willing to help, really helpful people. Besides, the location was lovely for our stay, within 5 minutes' walk of Sognefjord Aquarium.

It is located nicely at the Sognefjord. However, as I stayed there only for one night, there isn't much else to report.
Compared to other hotels I stayed during a trip around western Norway, i found this hotel quite a bit overpriced.

Beautiful hotel, lovely setting. Historic furniture and artifacts well worth seeing. We took lots of pictures, both inside and outside. Fine view of fjord from balcony of 7th floor room. Breakfast buffet is excellent. Balestrand is one of the most picturesque towns I've seen, and the Kviknes is the centerpiece -- it looks good even from the hiking trails up above the town. We're very glad we chose to stay at the Kviknes.
Dinner in the main dining room is a bit expensive.

We stayed in 4 hotels during our trip and this was the one we enjoyed the most. The setting, the staff, the design and decor of the hotel were wonderful We appreciated and enjoyed a small tour of the public rooms and artwork by one of the staff. Our room was one with a view which was breathtaking. Our room was quiet and the beds were comfortable. The complimentary breakfast included hot and cold dishes and was great. The expensive buffet in the dining room in the evening offered a large and tasty variety. We found the prices of restaurant food in Norway to be quite expensive and this was no exception.
It would be nice to have the setup for coffee and tea in the room.

We stayed in the modern section of the hotel in a standard room with a fabulous view of the Fjord. Breakfast was in the historical part of the hotel which has been well perserved and we were fortunate enough to have a completely sunny day with coffee on the veranda and the breathtaking views of the Fjord. Four of us had an excellent casual dinner in the lobby bar area. Both evening and morning walks along the water near the hotel were very beautiful and peaceful. The hotel is located very near the ferry terminal which made easy access for the ferry to the Glacier and then back connecting with the express ferry to Bergen. This was an excellent hotel run by very professional staff.
Great location - great hotel

Good views from rooms on upper floors. Clean.
Straight from the ferry and into a modern hotel reception. Room in a concrete bunker with corridors in desperate need of renovation. The restaurant is in the reception area and we started wondering where the historical hotel was. Misleading information from the reception desk meant we only discovered the old part by accident. Very, very expensive for what it is.

The food was surprisingly good. Plentiful, great choice, fresh and tasty. The evening buffet beats most hotels I've stayed at (and I've been to many...). Like many other things in Norway the Buffet was expensive but really worth the money.
The reception staff was quite poor and lacked knowledge of tours in the area. One very important point: The hotel caters to large groups of tourists. We could not escape the feeling that those groups got the better view rooms and enjoyed dramatically lower prices. One can understand the price advantage but the fact they got the better view rooms was frustrating. Bookings.com should put pressure on hotels to avoid such situations!

Great stay for 2 nights - no complaints! The location was super convenient, close to The Waterfall Path. You've got stores within walking distance, and there's even a supermarket right across the street. The breakfast at the restaurant was top-notch! 🌟

Have stayed before - we chose it as we have relatives we were visiting in the area. Overall standards are excellent. Would really appreciate a kettle (water boiler) and tea and coffee facilities in the room.
No drinks facilities in the rooms.

The hotel is located in a paradise. Beautiful
Personal not always helpful. Restaurant bar closed at 10 pm. We arrived from one excursion just 5 min before 10. We asked for something to eat, just a sanwich. But answer from service was a big no.
